    Acknowledgement of Country

We acknowledge the traditional owners, the Gunditjmara people, on whose land we learn, work and play. We recognise their continuing connection to land, waters and culture. We pay our respects to their elders- past, present and emerging believing that we can walk together for a better future.

    All Saints Parish School Vision

All Saints Parish School Community is centered in Christ and as partners in Catholic education; we pursue fullness of life for all.

    Principal's Message

We are rapidly approaching the end of term 2 which means that we have completed nearly half a year of schooling for 2025. Time certainly does fly when you are having fun!

Congratulations to our students who participated in the Sacrament of First Eucharist on the weekend. This is a very special moment for you and your families as you continue along your faith journey.

What a fantastic week we had with Footsteps Dance Company in our school. It was great to be able to showcase all of the hard work that we had done throughout the week to our parents and friends at our mini-concert on Thursday.

Well done to our Winter Series Soccer team who played in Warrnambool last Friday. They came up against some very good opposition but played very well. Special thanks to Lachlan Copley for coaching with Mr. White. Great job team!

As we near the end of term I would like to pay special mention to our staff and students. This is a particularly busy time with students participating in lots of assessment tasks and completing learning sequences. Thank you to our teachers who are currently working hard on student reports. It takes a great deal of time and energy from our teachers to prepare our student reports to share where each student is with their learning with families.

These reports will be released online to families closer to the end of term.

We are Respectful! We are Responsible! We are Safe! We are Nurturing!

    Regards

    Jamie

    New School Video

I encourage you all to take a couple of minutes to watch our new school promotional video. Please feel free to share this with family and friends.

Special thanks must go to Kevin Cummins at Modular Media for putting this together for us.

    Catholic School Culture

    Congratulations: Sacrament of First Eucharist.

Congratulations to Dolly, Penelope, Sonny, Hamish, Celeste and Sadie who participated in the Sacrament of First Eucharist over the weekend. This now completes their initiation as full members of the Catholic church. We wish them and their families all the best as they continue along their faith journey.

    Learning & Teaching

Reporting - Changes to the Reporting of Numeracy

This year we are reporting on the new Numeracy Curriculum. The staff have been teaching to this in 2025 and will be reporting on this too.

One of the changes to our reporting is that instead of reporting to several strands - Number and Algebra, Measurement, Space etc - we will now report to 'Mathematics' which will include all of the strands. Look out for this when our new look reports are released online later in the term.

    From the Digi Tech Room

Our students have been incredibly busy and engaged in Digital Technologies this term, developing their computational thinking and problem-solving skills across all year levels!

Our Foundation students have been having a fantastic time learning the fundamentals of coding. They've been using Bee-Bots to understand sequential instructions, giving them commands to reach specific destinations. It's wonderful to see their excitement as they watch their coded instructions come to life.

In Grades 1 and 2, students have been delving into game design using Bloxels. They're learning to design characters, build environments, and code the environment for their very own video games. This hands-on approach is not only fun but also teaches them valuable lessons about planning, iteration, and digital storytelling.

Meanwhile, our Grades 3-6 students have been embracing the world of robotics with LEGO Spike kits. They've been challenged to design, build, and code robots to complete various tasks, fostering their engineering skills, logical thinking, and collaborative problem-solving. We've seen some truly innovative designs and impressive coding solutions.

    Physical Education Term 2

This semester our Junior students have been developing their ball handling skills, such as throwing, catching and bouncing. During class, our F-2 students have been enjoying many varied ‘tag’ style warm-up games, practicing their ball skills then applying these skills within a minor game environment. FYW have also had the added benefit of a regular joke telling session during lunch. I have no doubt that our parents are benefitting from their child’s keen sense of humour….

Our Grade 3-4 students have been thoroughly enjoying the game of hockey. I have been very much impressed with the skills our students have been displaying. Hockey is a game that that requires students to be very much ambidextrous and I could not be prouder of their skill level. I have been really impressed that some our students have taken up the game with the Portland Hockey Club and I have no doubt that some of our 3-4 students will be representing the school at the upcoming Regional Hockey Carnival in Hamilton Term 3.

Finally, our Grade 5-6 have been enjoying the game of NFL Flag Football. This game has been fantastic for our senior students, who are really enjoying the catch, throw and agility aspects. Rather than tackle, students must pull a flag from their opponent’s waistband. This game is to feature at the upcoming Los Angeles Olympics. Who knows, maybe some of our students will feature!! Currently, I am toying with the idea of entering our students in an upcoming NFL Flag competition next term in Melbourne. Stay tuned!!

SWPBS- School Wide Positive Behaviour Supports

    School Wide Expectations

School Wide Positive Behaviour Support is: A multi-tiered framework for establishing the social culture and behaviour supports needed for a school to achieve behavioural and academic outcomes for all students.

Each  newsletter we will share one aspect for each of our school wide expectations. We will focus on these at school and they may present an opportunity for some discussion with your children at home. You may ask them when they demonstrated one of the expectations or a time when someone displayed the expectation towards them.

We are RESPECTFUL! - Use school appropriate language, tone and volume.

We are RESPONSIBLE! - Be accountable, honest and helpful.

We are SAFE! - Report unsafe behaviour to an adult.

We are NURTURING! - Speak positively to others and use kind words.

    Leadership & Stewardship

    School Uniform Update

As we near the end of term the wearing of school uniform can often become an issue. We have many children wearing incorrect uniform to school. We have had many requests and questions regarding our school uniform in recent times, in particular our sports uniform.

Our current uniform requirements do not include the wearing of leggings and bike shorts as part of the sports uniform. This issue was taken to the School Advisory Council meeting on Thursday night and, after much discussion, it was voted unanimously that leggings and bike shorts are not included as part of our school sports uniform.

Sometimes children require alterations to the uniform for different reasons, including sensory concerns. If this is the case for you and your child please contact Jamie or Christine at school to discuss.

If for some reason your child cannot be in correct school uniform all we ask is that you send a message or note to the classroom teacher to inform them of the reasons that students are out of uniform.

We would also like to remind families which days students are allowed to wear their sports uniform:

    Foundation- Tuesday & Friday

1/2- Tuesday & Friday (also on Thursday in Term 2 due to swimming lessons)

3/4- Wednesday & Friday (also on Tuesday in Term 2 due to swimming lessons)

    5/6- Thursday and Friday

Staff will be monitoring the wearing of uniform more closely over the coming week.

Thank you for your support in this matter.
